Spring Cleaning Organization

Spring has arrived and there’s no better way to celebrate than to clean, right? Maybe not, but it’s probably the best. Spring cleaning is the time of the year everyone sets aside to deep clean their home because life gets busy and it’s hard to keep up!

We have tips to help you start the season right!

  1. Assign yourself tasks. Make yourself a schedule depending on how much time you want to set aside for it. Giving yourself a week? Do something like; Monday- declutter, Tuesday- dusting, Wednesday- scrubbing, and so on. Then you can spend half hour to an hour each day just focusing on your task for that day.
  1. Declutter, declutter, declutter. Have we said it enough? Make sure to declutter. If you don’t love it, or don’t use it get rid of it! It’s been researched and stated that the less clutter there is in your home the happier you’ll be. Make it your mission that when it comes to getting rid of clutter you don’t hold back. You’ll be amazed at the difference you can make in your home with just one simple step.
  1. Make a checklist. Making a checklist will help you keep track of what you have done and what you still need to do. Maybe this is the time of year you start taking your winter gear out of your closet and into storage. Or you want to really focus on redecorating and putting all your old things away. Your checklist is your checklist and you can customize it how you want.

  1. Don’t forget about the things out of sight. Out of sight, out of mind might be okay in other circumstances, but probably not the best when cleaning. It’s important to clean and organize things that you see every day, but it’s also just as important to clean items you don’t see. The closets, bins, cabinets, food pantry, boxes and so on.
  1. Make it fun. Don’t use the word chore, instead use the word “feel-good” exercise. In reality it will make you feel good, and it should be considered an exercise because burning calories are happening. Turn on some music, get the family involved and dance your way through the cleaning. Afterwards figure out something relaxing to do, if that’s going to the movies or just enjoying a nice dinner, having something to look forward to will help you get it done.
