If you are having any packages delivered while you are away make sure to ask a neighbor to get them so that they aren’t on your front porch for days. When packages sit out there for days, or mail is spilling out of your mailbox, it’s a sure sign to would be burglars that you are away for an extended period.
Don’t post your travel plans on social media. Posting the photos of your trip is fine, just post them after you get home so you aren’t announcing to the world that you and your family are out of town.

This doesn’t necessarily have to be a large investment, you can buy simple timers are any home store for about $20, these can be used to have a lamp come on and off.
