Seeing Christmas lights is a great activity and fun for the whole family. Here are some of the best places to see Christmas lights near you this holiday season:

Lights Under Louisville 

The only underground holiday light show in the world is right in the heart of Bourbon City. As you drive through this manmade limestone cavern, you’ll pass by more than 6.5 million points of light and 40+ illuminated displays, drive through light tunnels, and enjoy holiday music for a unique experience that will immerse you in holiday cheer.

Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom

Southern Lights at The Kentucky Horse Park 

Take a three-mile driving tour of over a million twinkling Christmas lights showcasing the “12 Days of Christmas,” then stretch your legs by exploring the Holiday Village featuring Tootie’s Peppermint Café, photo opportunities, and a petting zoo.

Lexington Fire Department no. 20

Since 2005, Lexington Fire Department Station No. 20 has been putting on a spectacular holiday light show. Tune into 91.1 FM to access the choreographed music. The light show is free to enjoy, but the station asks for donations to its annual toy drive if anyone wants to give back.

Holiday Lights at Buffalo Trace Distillery

Spirited Nights is a 12-night complimentary event featuring a self-guided walk-through (or drive-through) light experience with numerous stops with snacks and beverages (for purchase)!

Christmas at Mustard Seed Hill 

Stroll through the breathtaking lights, enjoy live music, gather with friends, shop for the perfect handmade gift, and don’t miss the most stunning gingerbread house displays in Kentucky.

PNC Festival of Lights 

The Cincinnati Zoo is shining bright for the 42nd annual PNC Festival of Lights! Arrive early to see more animals and stay for the lights! In addition to admiring the beauty of 5 million LED lights, visitors can find the 5 Fiona fairies in Fairyland, take in a blacklight puppet show, marvel at the spectacular Wild Lights on Swan Lake, or snack at one.

Deck the Y’alls Lightfest 

Step into the baseball stadium and marvel at interactive light displays with over 2.5 million lights, an ice skating rink, train rides, treats, live entertainment, and, new this year, ice bumper cars.

Holidays on the Farm (Nov. 22-Dec. 23)

This walk-through experience features more than 100,000 lights, a 25-foot Christmas tree, and this year, an installation from Blink. You’ll also find a quaint village showcasing local artisans and food trucks, strolling carolers, wagon rides on a lighted trail, visits with farm animals, live music, a synchronized dance horse show, and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will be a special family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration on Dec. 31.

Winterlights at Newfields

At Winterlights at Newfields, over one million holiday lights glow across the campus at Newfields. Lights dance beneath your feet and twinkle overhead, reaching to the very tips of 100-year-old trees, enveloping guests below. New wandering paths take guests on a journey through the woods on the Twinkling Trail. Dazzling baubles hang from trees and a larger-than-life illuminated ornament doubles as a photo op.

Christmas Nights of Lights

In this holiday event, families can drive through a 2-mile car ride in the midst of over a million LED lights. The lights will imitate figures such as trees, snowflakes, candy canes, and tunnels of lights. The lights will also be synchronized to the sounds of the holiday season which will play in your own personal vehicle. 

Christmas at the Zoo

An impressive light display will transform the Indianapolis Zoo into a winter wonderland this holiday season. In 2015, Christmas at the Zoo ranked in the top five in the nation for zoo light displays by USA Today. And although it may be winter, visitors can still expect to see some of the zoo’s hardier animals (i.e. seals, walruses, and tigers) out enjoying the holiday temperatures.

A Merry Prairie Holiday at Conner Prairie

Conner Prairie is the perfect local destination for family holiday fun! Guests can marvel at the famous Reynolds Farm Equipment Christmas Lights, sock-skate at Frosty’s Skating Rink, and visit North Pole Village for a selfie with Santa. The event will feature local entertainers and musicians, and serve special holiday treats and beverages. There will also be educational pieces in Prairietown to celebrate history and the holidays.
